On assessment of numerous patients that have come to us because they cannot overcome a persistent ache or injury, the issues are always almost the same: poor structural balance and low levels of strength.
Poor structural balance is when we display disproportionate ratios of strength between the different movement patterns of the body. This leads to dysfunction. In addition to this poor structural balance is when we display a disproportionate ratio of strength between different segments/heads of a muscle or/and deficits in strength or/and flexibility between two limbs. Furthermore, poor structural balance can be the result of a disproportionate ratio between joint mobility and joint strength.
If the body is not functioning as intended, pain and aches will arise, accelerated wear of the structures occurs, followed by injury, which does not permanently resolve unless structural balance is improved.
We optimise structural balance by achieving proportionate ratios of strength between the different movement patterns of the body and by achieving proportionate ratios of strength between the different segments of muscles. In addition, we address bilateral deficits in strength and flexibility and disproportionate ratios between joint mobility and joint strength. When this is achieved only then can we safely and effectively load the body. Only then can we safely and efficiently engage in athletic activities like running, cycling and jumping, or even every day activities like walking, playing with our children and grandchildren and daily chores like taking out the rubbish.
On optimisation of structural balance athletic performance will increase and for others activities that were once difficult like walking or even moving around the house will become significantly easier.

"Through a carefully constructed exercise programme and understanding of how the human body works and more importantly how to rectify its weaknesses Andreas has helped me understand the cause of chronic knee pain and how to treat it through exercise."
Thereafter, using the gathered information from assessment and other parameters including the patients training history and medical history, a needs analysis is put together followed by a detailed initial exercise prescription.
The exercise prescription is taught and coached on a one to one basis.
We start by assessing various carefully selected prime movements of the body depending on:
